For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Stir in garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Bring to a simmer, then stir in orzo. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Uncover and stir in heavy cream. Cook for another 5 minutes until orzo is tender and sauce has thickened.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.
