Linzer Strawberry Heart Cookies

Classic buttery Linzer cookies shaped like hearts, filled with sweet strawberry jam.

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, almond flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until dough forms. Divide dough in half, flatten into disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out heart shapes, then cut smaller hearts from half the cookies for the tops.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool completely.
  6. Spread jam on whole cookies, then top with cut-out cookies. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
