Tuna Melt Grilled Sandwiches

A classic tuna melt sandwich with melted cheese, crispy bread, and a flavorful tuna salad filling.

For the Crust:

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 2 tablespoons diced red onion
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices bread (sourdough or whole wheat)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Spread the tuna mixture evenly on 4 slices of bread. Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese and cover with the remaining bread slices.
  3. Butter the outer sides of each sandwich.
  4. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  5. Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
