Black Icing Buttercream Frosting

A rich and smooth black buttercream frosting perfect for decorating cakes and cookies.

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Black gel food coloring (as needed)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy and smooth.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Add heavy cream or milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until fully combined and fluffy.
  4. Add black gel food coloring a little at a time until the desired shade of black is achieved.
  5. Beat for an additional 2-3 minutes until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.
